Child sexual exploitation is a type of sexual abuse where the child/young person is been given or recieves something as reward after sexual activities like food, money, shelter, clothings and other items without the child having the understanding that they are being exploited. This type of abuse are common to children who are under vulnerable circumstances. Examples are children who have experienced previous abuse of any kind,children who are in foster care, children who have low-self esteem, children who dropped out -of school, young ones who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs and children who are victims of domestic violence.
Child Sexual online abuse is a type of abuse that involves the use if electronic gadgets like cell phone, I-pad, Laptop amongst others where young people are persuaded or lured or forced to send or post sexual pictures of themselves, have unhealthy sexual conversations by text messages, voice notes or video call and sexual activities using webcam or smartphone. The abuser may therefore threaten to expose or send images or video of their conversations to the child’s friends and family unless they involve themselves in more other sexual activities. The child been in a panic or state of fear will want to give in.
Grooming is the intentional building of an emotional connection with a young child in order to gain their heart for the purpose of sexual abuse, child/human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The child develops this likable feelings to their abusers who most times are older adults through online or face-to -face, either by someone they already know for example a family member, friends and neighbors or a total stranger they come across. The groomers may be a female or male of any age. The abused do not understand that they are been groomed for a bad purpose like an abuse. .
